At Make It Wild we are very proud to have been recently (January 2019) awarded “Turtle Approved” certification. This award was made by an independent international organisation. This means we are recognised as a business that does not distribute disposable plastic to our customers. You can be confident that our retail activities are entirely plastic free. None of our products contain plastic, and when we send online orders to customers, all our packaging is plastic free. This is really important for the health of our planet and oceans – and all the wildlife in them, such as turtles.
We are very fond of turtles. Our very own ‘turtle saviour’, Cecilia, spent two summers volunteering on turtle conservation projects. Turtles now have iconic status, having almost become the representative for all other species with whom they share the oceans. Plastic waste is devastating to turtles and their ocean habitat. Sadly, plastic pollution is now found in 100% of marine turtles, 60% of whales and 40% of sea birds, contributing to the death of 100,000 marine mammals and turtles, and a staggering one million sea birds annually.
Therefore, it means a lot to us to be able to share this Turtle Approved logo and show you how much we care about marine life.
