This is our dedicated Memorial Woodland. Here we plant our very special memorial trees, incorporating the cremation ashes of loved ones.
The passing of a loved one can be distressing. Finding a beautiful final resting place can help with healing. We take the cremation ashes of your loved one, and using a special process, combine these with growing compost. We then plant a native tree of your choice with the compost in a special biodegradable pouch. Once the tree is established, you can help us to plant it at Wilsill.
We have a beautiful peaceful spot overlooking the Nidd Valley, with extensive views of fields and woodlands. Curlews and lapwings fly overhead, and lambs run about in the surrounding fields.
You can read more about our Memorial Trees here.
The entrance to the Make it Wild Memorial Woodland is off the Smelthouses Road, which in turn is off the B6165, between Pateley Bridge and Summerbridge, just South East of the village of Wilsill. The grid reference is SE 18636 64601. Please note the Memorial Woodland is not generally open to the public. You are welcome to explore the location to help you to decide if you would like to make it the final resting place for your loved one, but unfortunately we cannot allow unaccompanied access. If you do go ahead with planting a Memorial Tree, you will be free to visit as often as you wish, and we will explain how to gain access.
