Early in 2024 we became custodians of this lovely 65 acre site.
It starts on the bank of the River Seph, with lots of wonderful veteran trees. There are also some spectacular old trees alongside Breck Gill, and in our other ghylls too.
Towards the upper reaches, there is some upland grass, and young woodland which was planted by previous owners in 2019.
A woodland creation project was completed here, during winter 2025, extending the woodland cover. This links the existing young woodland with other nearby woods, which is great for wildlife. This project includes 23,000 native, deciduous trees, protected by deer and rabbit fencing. It has been registered on the S & P Global Registry under Project ID 104000000029873 for authentication and verification under the United Kingdom Woodland Carbon Code (WCC).
As always, we’ve included clearings, paths, scrapes and ponds. The density of planting varies markedly across the scheme, varying from our conventional woodland to wood-pasture planted with protected clumps of trees among pasture.
There are several footpaths on or near to this site, including one near the top, one which crosses the upper part, and one along the banks of the River Seph.
How about being a part of this lovely habitat restoration project? You can dedicate a young tree, a young tree with a personalised plaque, a gorgeous ancient tree, or a Century Old Tree here. These trees are accessible in daylight hours, using public footpaths.
