What’s it like?

Heather Lea sleeps eight people – all on ‘proper’ beds, no bunk beds here. Our bedrooms are named after animals you might be lucky enough to see in Bank Woods:

  • ‘Badger’ – the lovely big master suite with superking size bed, smart TV, fabulous views and a large ensuite shower room
  • ‘Roe Deer’ – twin bedded room down stairs, easy access to the family bathroom
  • ‘Hare’ – twin bedded room upstairs
  • ‘Fox’ – upstairs, with a double bed

Generous space downstairs:

  • large well equipped kitchen with an Everhot electric range and a smart TV
  • dining table for 8, views outside
  • sitting room with comfy modern sofas and a large smart TV, fabulous view across Nidderdale
  • house bathroom with a huge freestanding bath with a stunning view, walk-in shower
  • bi-fold patio doors open onto beautiful landscaped garden with dining area, firepit, two lawns and lots of sheltered spots to enjoy a drink as you watch the sunset over the valley

Guests enjoy exclusive private access to Bank Woods Nature Reserve, and Dowgill Grange – a total of 150 acres of private land for you to enjoy.

  • Electricity from 100% renewable provider
  • Extra insulation in roof and wall cavities – to maintain internal temperature and reduce energy usage

  • All cleaning products, toilet paper, soap etc are eco-friendly – to minimise harm to the environment
  • Much of the furniture is upcycled or made from reclaimed wood – more sustainable than new

  • Solar panels generating our own electricity
  • Facilities for composting and recycling – to reduce waste
  • Apples, herbs and rhubarb growing in the garden – help yourself – organic and no transport!
  • Wild area in the garden left to support bees and insects – they are struggling and need our help
  • Electric vehicle charge point (small charge payable)

Brimham Rocks with its breathtaking views and wonderful rock formations is very close.

Fountains Abbey is a short drive, and has a fantastic visitor centre and stunning history.

The lovely spa town of Harrogate with its beautiful gardens and many independant shops and cafes is nearby.

Just a little further, don’t miss the ancient walled city of York, with Roman and Viking history, river cruises, many museums and a stunning minster to discover.
