Ald Wood is one of Make it Wild’s network of partner sites. It’s part of a bigger farm in Ashworth Valley near Rochdale, owned by Dave and Louise Neave.

Dave and Louise have farmed organically for over 40 years on their farm in Ashworth. They have a herd of Aberdeen cattle and a flock of cross-bred sheep, which graze at low density on extensive high ground above Manchester.
The couple are passionate about the landscape and how they look after it. They are excited at this new chapter in their farming career, in which they are creating Ald Wood – a brand new mixed native woodland of over 20 acres. They are looking forward to seeing this area of former grassland become wilder, and to watching wildlife move in to this new habitat.

They are both excited to see the exciting changes Ald Wood will bring to their land, which will continue to support biodiversity long into the future.
