Description
Our Conservation Grazing animals are key members of our rewilding team!
At Covenhope, Norfolk you can sponsor one of our English Longhorn Cattle. They are a hardy native breed which are closely related to the (globally extinct) wild Aurochs that once roamed the UK.
The Covenhope conservation grazing crew have lived outside, roaming and grazing organic pasture since they were born and enjoy a wild life similar in many ways to that of their ancestors.
At Bank Woods, near Harrogate North Yorkshire, you can sponsor one of our beautiful Belted Galloway cows, or one of their very cute calves.
Also at Bank Woods, we have Exmoor Ponies available for sponsorship. They are retired riding ponies, enjoying grazing our rewilding area in their twilight years.
On both sites, the conservation grazing crew are an important part of the Make it Wild team, allowing wildflowers to thrive by ensuring grasses do not out-compete them. They bring other benefits too – their dung supports insects and fungi, and their hooves disturb the earth and can create small areas of bare ground that is essential wild flower seeds to grow, and if we’re lucky, for reptiles who seek to bask in sunlight.
