There are some things you can't capture in a report. The smell of warm grass at midday. The way a hillside sounds when it's full of insects again. The quiet satisfaction of pushing aside the long grass to find a rowan sapling, waist-high, that wasn't there a couple of summers ago.

Last week we spent a day at Rowan Tree Farm, our rewilding site in the Peak District, and we brought some friends. Rather than talk about nature recovery from a meeting room, we did what we always think works best, we put our boots on and walked the land with the partners who help make this work possible.

At Make it Wild, we are proud to say that our Bank Woods Nature Reserve is home to around 20 acres of ancient woodland.

During the Summer of 2023, we have been fortunate enough to have high tech bat detectors placed and monitored by local bat expert, David Watkins. These were placed in two locations at Bank Woods.
