At Make It Wild, we are thrilled to be able to offer you fantastic woodland experiences and activities in nature. Our upcoming 2023 calendar is packed with great opportunities to get out into the wild! You can relax, learn something new, make memories, and maybe even discover a new hobby.
Here are the events we have scheduled for the 2023 Winter and Spring seasons so far:
This mindfulness walk will take place in Sylvan Woodland Nature Reserve, near Kirk Hammerton. An hour and a half of gentle walking through nature with regular intervals to take in the environment and to engage mindfulness experiences guided by Helen Neave.
The Spring Equinox is upon us! With this experience, you’ll be heading out to Bank Woods for a day of forest bathing, making your own bird call whistles, and a spot of shared lunch amongst nature.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to the basics of “rewilding” principles and techniques. Hosted by expert horticulturalist Jan Hoyland, this experience will help you increase biodiversity in your green spaces.
This spring foraging session will enlighten participants to the wealth of food and nutrition available to us outside our supermarkets. In Bank Woods, led by local experienced forager Nicola, you’ll be able to find all the ingredients to whip up your own foraged meal!
Another of our excellent walks, returning again to Bank Woods with Helen Neave to let your mind relax and be absorbed by nature! Don’t worry, it doesn’t stop here. New dates for mindfulness walks will be added throughout the year!
In this creative workshop, you’ll be led by our expert tutor Wendi May New in the art of painting with nature. Wendi will be your guide as you craft your own ink made from items foraged from nature in Bank Woods – the most sustainable way to make paint! Afterwards, you’ll create your own works inspired by the woods around you.
If painting isn’t your thing, fear not! In our second Nature Inspired Workshop, we’ll have the help of Karina Wiles to instruct you in the art of rag rugging! You’ll be individually guided in the ‘hooky’ and ‘proddy’ techniques to create a work of art inspired by the incredible views of our ancient woodland and landscapes.
The sequel to our introductory session. This event will further your knowledge of rewilding, whether you went to the first session or not. Exploring eco-systems, learning about micro-climates, and more, all to help you aid in the speedy recovery of the nature around you.
To attend any of these events, simply click on its title to be taken to the booking page. See you in the woods!
If you would like to buy a Woodland Experience as a gift, but you can’t decide which one, all of these can be paid for with one of our vouchers. You can buy them here.
