Our external bat box is perfect to encourage these wonderful creatures into your garden. It is also ideal if your planning permission requires you to provide a free-standing bat box for mitigation purposes.
All British bats are protected, and many are endangered. Their rapid decline in their numbers over recent decades is largely due to loss of habitat. You can help these fascinating mammals by providing them with a place to roost, in one of our external bat boxes.
These bat boxes are designed by an experienced ecologist, to provide various species of bat with everything they need for a comfortable and safe sleeping place. The access is exactly the right shape, and the design means they can move around the box during the day, in response to the warmth of the sun and any cooling wind, which is important for them.
The box is made from plywood and is finished in black water-based non-toxic masonry paint.
The bat box will need to be mounted on a pole which is not included.
If you prefer a less visible bat box, integrated into your building, please see our integrated bat boxes.
